Nightmare Plains (NMP) was founded on Oct 21, 2014. It started with 2 parents that learned to love the game that inspired their (at the time) 14-year-old son. With a passion to share that enthusiasm with others in the greater Calgary area. The sleepy little town swallowed this up, with our numbers growing rapidly. Most of the population was between the ages of 12 to 16, but a few parents did come out and enjoy as well. As fate would have it, the Odereus clan would eventually move due to mundane life changes. The park was passed on to someone they felt would keep it going. Unfortunately, with the void that was left, the park faded into nothingness, though still monitored by Chris Biollo (Odereus). One did eventually step up to reinstitute the park, this time back in Calgary. Geoff Genge took the reins in spring of 2018 and has been making successful run. Steady numbers over the past year and recently starting to engage with the next closest park in Edmonton (Western Winds).

Shire of Hermit’s Hold
After Cricket the Hermit went to a local park, he found Amtgard, in the Sacred Winds (Ellensburg). After 3 years, he moved to the Wenatchee and started a park in June 2003. The first few weeks were slim, until a group from Stormhaven come out and fought for a day. This group was led by Sir Blackthorn, and his family, which lead to the exposure of the park. Unfortunately, Cricket had to leave, relinquishing the land to the hands of Xiphius, who continued recruiting and finally gathered enough numbers to petition for Shirehood in the fall of 2005. We got a vast influx of younger players, tending to be of high school age. With this wave of new members, the land was able to petition as a Barony the summer of 2006. Within the summer of 2017, Hermits Hold was moved back to a shire, due to decline in numbers, but there is a drive to recruit. With strong Shire numbers, we are an active positive presence in our Park. We do regular garbage checks, always leaving the place cleaner than when we found it. We make sure to maintain good relations with within the local community. For the last two years we’ve participated in the local annual Renaissance Faire, last year running the “Boffer Pit”. We also recently helped a Kiwanis sponsored clothing drive to raise awareness as a thank you for their rebuilding the shelter.
Shire of Dragons Creek
Dragon Creek was established as a freehold in May of 2009. The lively teens of Chewelah who actively played games at a local game store formed an Amtgard group and achieved success and regular attendance. In 2012 the freehold became a Shire under the Principality of the Viridian Outlands. Dragon Creek continues to meet weekly on Sundays at Cheweelah City Park, maintaining several of its original members to this day. Dragon Creek actively participates in the yearly Food Fight; receiving a total of 160 points this year and has continued its community outreach by initiating warm clothes drive for the local Chewelah area.

Shire of Amber Highlands
Founded in the summer of 2016, was started in the city of Medicine Hat, Alberta. It grew to 5 members for the first few months. After a while, declining numbers and little new interest caused the park to move closer to its founder and became the first Amtgard Park in the Province of Saskatchewan. Now in the much smaller town of Maple Creek, SK, the regular attendance was
closer to a dozen members strong. It was a moderately successful park until the founder moved back to the Edmonton area and the Western Winds Amtgard park. With no new leadership in Amber Highlands, it soon became inactive until recently.
In December of 2019, Hauldr Hauldr Odereus Urungus took over the contract of the park and relocated it to Fort St. John BC becoming the most Northern Park in Canada. Currently weekly gatherings have just been family members crafting weapons and sashes in preparation for a go live date early January. There is an active Facebook Page which has garnered much interest in the Northern City.
Everliving Woods
The Everliving Woods is a family-friendly, diverse, and inclusive Amtgard park.
The Everliving Woods was first established in Montevallo, Alabama as a Freehold in 2015 by Master Jelly Lasqueeze. After moving to Vestavia Hills, Alabama the park has flourished into a large community of players. In 2018, the park experienced a growth spurt and became the largest park in Alabama. Players from upwards of 2 hours away travel to play at Everliving Woods on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays of each month. On December 13th, 2018, they joined the Kingdom of Winters Edge as a Shire. On October 19th, 2019, Everliving Woods was the first park in Winter’s Edge to be awarded an Order of the Flame for the sheer amount of service provided by park members during summer-midreign of that year. On November 22nd, 2019, the Everliving Woods was elevated to a Barony.
Our player numbers continue to grow as the first concern of ‘The Woods is to have fun. Come grow with us!
Heroes Pass
Long ago known as The High Principality of The Borderlands, though strife with The Kingdom of the Emerald Hills eventually led to its dramatic fall. Later the site was reclaimed by the Celestial Kingdom and renamed Kaembryge. Many years later through much narrative history and for practical reasons, the group was renamed Heroes Pass.
We usually meet at Lovers Leap in Cameron Park at 2pm every Saturday. Sometimes the location is compromised and if so there will be updates on the Facebook group page. (See photos below for the location in the park where we typically meet.)

Traitors Gate
