Duchy of Western Winds

Western Winds was founded in the Spring of 2010 by Paul Raymond and Matthew Bushie, with the first official park daay being September 18th of that year after introducing Amtgard to members of the Eternium LARP group. Over the next few months, average attendance would hit barony numbers, but in January of 2011, there was unrest and the park split. Eternium LARP members and Amtgard players went their own separate ways. Western Winds average numbers drop to 2-5 members per week. In June 2011, Western Winds holds its first ever event, Circles of Fate. By this time, numbers had recouped and is back on track with barony numbers. Shortly after, a contract is signed with Blackspire to become an independent land. Western Winds members then represent themselves at Pacific War 13 and end up signing a contract under the Grand Duchy of Stormhaven. Over the next two years, attendance struggles as founding members move and start their own parks elsewhere. In 2013, Western Winds moves to Jackie Parker Park and begins Facebook advertising and starts biweekly fighter practices. Numbers begin to grow, and the park decides to host its first winter event known as Windchill. At Windchill (held in 2014), it is announced that Western Winds has been promoted to the status of Barony. From this point on, Western Winds begins to see steady growth, leading to their eventual elevation to Duchy status in June of 2017. The years of 2018 and 2019 end up being incredibly successful. Members from other Kingdoms begin to travel to Western Winds for Circles of Fate, including Knights and Warlords. A local business known as Foam Fighters invites Western Winds to use their facilities free of charge for weekly fighter practices. Windchill 2019 sees Western Winds become a leader in Amtgard Roleplay, with the then Queen of Blackspire in attendance declaring it the most fun she’d had at an event. Circles of Fate 2019 is the largest event yet, with 65 members in attendance. It is also the most expensive event ran (over $7000.00) and drew a lot of international interest. At this point, Lord Aeon begins experimenting with video footage to promote the park, which leads to even more interest in members attending the park. While Western Winds has very humble beginnings and its fair share of failures, it is now the largest park in Amtgard as stated by the ORK 3 and is largely praised as one of the most welcoming parks, as well as a park that goes big with everything it does. In fact, Western Winds is the current Food Fight Champion of Viridian Outlands wining with 396.3 points.

Barony of the Valley of the Trident

Average Monthly Attendance: 16 Valley of the Trident was founded December 28th, 2014 as a local LARP,
in the Tri-Cities. It was suggested that the lands symbol become a trident, to signify the unity of the three cities and the three local rivers; the Snake, the Yakima and the Columbia. One of the challenges for the land, seemed to be keeping attendance high not only in the winter, but summer months as well. As the land is in a desert and reached highs of 110 degrees. For the next 3 year the lands numbers fluctuated, leading many of its members to travel to the largest local land, Stormhaven. With this became the love of Amtgard, the travel between Spokane and connection to the Viridian Outlands. During 2018, the population started to grow, with the help of recruit drives, loaner equipment and setting up warm food and drinks during the cold months. This allowing the land to be elevated as a Barony. This has cause further participation within the local community allowing us to participate in the Ye Merrie Green Wood Fare (Local Ren Fair) and allow us to participate in the local Ben-Franklin County Fair Parade. We also help Second Harvest with food drives for Food Fight allowing us to have a total of 211.9 points, third place within Viridian Outlands.

Shire of the Bladed Coast

There were two attempts to start a CDA chapter in 2014 and 2016. These attempts were led by Darius Longstrider in 2014 and two players known as Porkchop and Derek Jackson in 2016. In 2018, the third attempt has become successful. Sirex Sunheart, with the assistance of Urs Oaksblood, had created a CDA Amtgard chapter. In July of 2018 a contract for the land “The Bladed Coast” had been submitted. The choice of the name had been an homage to those who tried before and was decided that it shouldn’t be changed. This contract was approved in September 2018 and “The Freehold of The Bladed Coast” was born. Players from other parks had come to show their support in the early days of The Bladed Coast. In March of 2019, The Bladed Coast joined the Principality of Viridian Outlands and became “The Shire of The Bladed Coast”. The group has since formed a strong relationship with a local game store known as “The Mana Pool” and work together to promote a unified gaming community of all kinds. It now stands as a stable park with a lot of room to grow.

Duchy of Stormhaven

Stormhaven is an Amtgard chapter located in Spokane, Washington. Started in 1995, under Iron Mountains. In a 1998 althing, buy unanimous vote it was decided to change the sponsoring kingdom to Mystic Seas, due to the closer proximity. For many years the group grew and diminished gaining barony status under the Kingdom of Mystic Seas. Mostly though, people just came out to fight and have fun. At Pacific War IV (2003), an event hosted by the Mystic Seas, Stormhaven’s sponsoring Kingdom, the land took a giant step forward in growth. By the authority of the King of Mystic Seas, Stormhaven was granted the group status of Duchy within the Kingdom. This was partly due to Stormhaven, who had traveled to Pacific War IV with 43 members’ 1/7th of the event’s total numbers. This newfound acknowledgment didn’t slow down the populace of Stormhaven. Once home from the event, members went right back to work in building Stormhaven’s local events to new heights. Several events went off very well, such as quests, feasts, dancing, and Thousand Stars pulled record numbers in attendance. Six months later at the end of King Lukor’s reign, Stormhaven yet again made another step forward by becoming Mystic Seas first Grand Duchy. With joint work between the King of Mystic Seas and the Monarch of Stormhaven an addendum to the Kingdom’s corpora was passed through the Kingdom’s Althing’s and the group status of Grand Duchy was placed on the books. Stormhaven was also granted the authority to seek sub-groups to Stormhaven with approval of the Kingdom. In 2012 the Grand Duchy of StormHaven became the Principality of StormHaven, with the help of the surrounding lands in Eastern Washington and Canada with a total of 6 founding lands under the Kingdom of Blackspire. StormHaven Proper, kept their name, this caused some confusion and was voted to change the Principalities name to Viridian Outlands in 2015. Being the oldest land in the Principality, many fighters were born from StormHaven, including Sir Robin one of the youngest belted Sword knights in the country at the time of his knighting. Stormhaven has taken its tradition of teaching by traveling to many lands in the south to inspire Amtgard within the Eastern Washington. They have tutored new lands in basic fighting skills like tactics and footwork. Many of the Knights of Viridian Outlands call Stormhaven home and though many are no longer active but keep in contact to teach the incoming generations of Amtgard. StormHaven has two popular land level event, Thousand Stars and Sergeants Corp. Thousand Stars has evolved into the PLE of Southern VO, while Sargent Corp. has become a legend heard by many, but no longer carried on. Within the new years the land has set up recruiting events, at some of Spokane’s Cons and local events: Fan Nexus, KuroNekoCon, Spokane Renaissance Fair and Highlander Games.

Barony of Ominous Valley

Ominous Valley was founded on September 7th, 2013 by Lord Dassadec and Octavian. It became part of the Principality of StormHaven under Blackspire in 2014. In the early stages, the park remained as a shire with a steady close knit of members. Come August 2015, the park hosted its first event Omens. The event is located on the reservation that Dassadec lives on, making the location local and easy to travel to. The event grew every year, making Omens increasingly successful with a variety of different themes. Grinding with consistent shire numbers, the park was well on its way to becoming a barony. On June 6th, 2017, it was announced that after 4 years, the park achieved barony numbers. The Barony is steadily seeing growth and enthusiastic new players. Ominous Valley advertises their park to family and friends, through flyers and local events. November
2019, the park took part in Kamcon, a tabletop convention. For its first time ever, the barony advertised themselves for the entire weekend at the convention. The barony has gone through many bumps in the road and is constantly learning. Omin

Shire of Northern Grove

The Northern Grove was created and started in October 7th, 2018 but had its beginnings much before that. It started as a small group of people that wanted to LARP but were unable or couldn’t join the local SCA. Wanting to fight monsters and wield magic, it was a passion project of the Slater family that eventually took root after a fateful meeting in a Denny’s with a group of likeminded people and a certain Mordecai. The park quickly grew from the starting six members with a rapid expansion, having an almost equal number of men and women from all age ranges. Located right next to a museum in a field that also has a hobby train, we get many spectators and have even made our local paper with official photos of our members in their best garb. Our park makes sure to have at least one quest day a month, most of them are connected, if only loosely to a greater story being told by our quest masters. Our brave adventures face many puzzles as well as traps and monsters in their search to tame the
Northern Grove. We are an official club in the University of Northern British Columbia, with all the privileges and responsivities that entails. We also participate in food fight, getting a total of 17.8 points.
